My advertisement was focused on the “Nike Superfly” soccer commercials. The purpose of these commercials are to show aspiring youth soccer players that Nike football boots are the best, the flashiest, and the most innovative cleats that money can buy. I often try to avoid getting swayed by most advertisements, but as a soccer player that enjoys fresh boots, it is nearly impossible to ignore the newest Nike ad. The Superfly commercials always make it a point to show off the new reduced weight of the boot. The slogan for their most eye catching boot is literally, “Be fast, Be seen, Be Superfly.” These boots are usually shown on the feet of flashy players like Cristiano Ronaldo, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Almost implying that if you buy these boots you will play like these players. Now most soccer players that I know do not buy the gimmick, but we still buy the boots simply because they look cool and feel light. The Nike marketing team does a fantastic job of sprucing up a piece of normal footwear into an item that makes you feel better about your game.

Save a Planet - Think GREEN!
I was a little surprised to see my number of earths because I have done a similar version of this before. This version was more specific so my number of earths increased by one. It would take 5.4 earths, 24.2 global acres, and 25.2 tons of carbon dioxide to support my lifestyle. An ecological foot print can really show a person how much they are consuming and what they are leaving behind. When people see how rapidly we are depleting our resources their whole view will change, and hopefully their lifestyles will follow. Our earth cannot be recycled so we have to be more cautious with our decisions. I think I can reduce my footprint by monitoring the trash and trying to reduce our weekly collection of garbage.

Waking Up
It is seven in the morning, and out back on my lanai letting the dogs out. It is cool out, but theres no breeze, and it is quit foggy out but visibility isn’t bad. I hear the sounds of the preserve behind my yard. Birds chirping as if they have just woken up, Bustling of the trees as two squirrels chase each other through the branches, and the sniffing of the dogs as they search for a place to relieve themselves. When I sit back and take it all in it seems like I am watching the sunrise of my environment. Everything around feels still until it moves or the sounds of the forest creep into your ears. Similar to looking at the sunrise for a while and you don’t see it wonder up the horizon until your drifts off and you notice that it changed its position. When I look deeper I see a bird jumping in and out of the tree tops and I can’t help but wonder what its doing. It jumps up then it picks a random branch leaf to perch on, almost like its playing a game with itself. Before I can think deeper my dog Spotty scratches my leg, asking to go inside.

About Me
My name is Germaine Chambers. I was born on June 17,
1993, in Kingston, Jamaica. I moved to the states when I was
eight years old, so I guess you could say I have been fairly
Americanized. I have two parents, a younger sister, and two
Shih Tzu’s. I think I did a little bit of everything growing up.
When I was three years old I started doing karate, and once I
moved I kept at it until I received my first degree black belt in
Tae Kwon Do at age eleven. That was my goal for martial
arts, so once I got my black belt I decided to stick to soccer.
I told my mom this, and she was fine with it, but she still
made me try other sports and activities. Jamaicans don’t
usually play American football; we play soccer or cricket. So
as a product of my environment, I had no idea how to play
this new sport. My parents thought I should learn, so they
put me in pee wee football! I was a decent running back, but
I ended up doing other things. Like piano lessons,
skateboarding, paintball, and bass guitar. To this day I still
like all of those things, but doing them helped me figure out
that soccer was the one I was most passionate about. I love
everything soccer, whether its playing, watching, officiating,
or going ham on anyone who decides they want to challenge
me in FIFA! I am a recent graduate from Charlotte High
School. Along with playing soccer I ran track, and I was also
apart of Interact and Environmental club. I’m currently
undecided, but senior year I chose to take AP environmental
science and found out that I genuinely enjoyed the class. So
I’ll be determining if I want minor or major in that area very
soon.
